Former Maroon David Shillington launches Humanity Code

Code switch to deliver high performance mental health and leadership

From the sporting field to the front of the boardroom and into classrooms, former Queensland Maroon David Shillington has taken his sporting experience and combined it with mental health experience and clinical backing to create the Humanity Code – a leadership and mentoring organisation focused on improving wellbeing, performance, and leadership.

“Our overall wellbeing, performance and our leadership qualities are all linked to one thing: the state of our mental health. No one is immune from the daily challenges we all face, but with the tools we can survive and thrive. On the sporting field it used to be a taboo subject to discuss mental health and I think in many respects the broader community still fears those conversations because they didn’t truly understand it."

While businesses and organisations are stepping up their commitment to managing mental health in the workplace, many don't know where to start, how to sustain the activity or how to bridge the conversation. This is where Humanity Code can help.

The Humanity Code point of difference is the combination of our clinical base - psychologists and research team - fused with highly experienced, former elite athletes who deliver proven, relatable content through storytelling and customised program development. These elite athletes form the Accelerator Coaches network - men and women that have been handpicked from a range of sports, as well as Olympians and Paralympians.

Wellbeing Code Accelerator Coaches include Ben Mowen (former Wallabies Captain), Brent Tate (former Kangaroo and QLD Maroons), Ali Brigginshaw (NRLW), Chris Bond (Paralympian), James O’Connor (former Wallaby), Nick Montgomery (Football) and more - the list of 55 athletes extends across Australia and is sure to resonate with all parts of the community.

The Humanity Code is part of Humanity Health Group's group of companies, which have a collective focus on facilitating better health for current and future generations through offering a range of coordinated support services across healthcare sectors.
